RESTING IN GOD: AN INTRODUCTION TO CENTERING PRAYER—ON ZOOM

July 28 2021 @ 9:00 am 3:00 pm

“The Father spoke one Word, which was His Son, and this Word He speaks always in eternal silence, and in silence must it be heard by the soul”
Saint John of the Cross

Centering Prayer is drawn from an ancient form of Christian prayer. It is a method of consenting to the presence and gracious action of Christ in the stillness of our being. It is an exercise of faith, hope and love, moving beyond conversation with Christ to communion.   The fruit of this prayer is a growing sense of God’s leading us beyond anxiety toward an interior stillness and peace that radiates outward in compassion and service. Anyone desiring to deepen his or her prayer life will benefit from this simple introduction to Centering Prayer.   The workshop will be facilitated by Rev. Rob Carr a trained presenter of centering prayer, representing Contemplative Outreach-Kansas City. It will include presentations, discussion, and opportunities to practice Centering Prayer.   Contemplative Outreach, founded by Father Thomas Keating, offers workshops worldwide teaching the practice of centering prayer. Registration via Sophia Center-Atchison Kansas www.mountosb.org

WHAT PEOPLE SAY about The Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop

Everything was explained clearly either in the presentation or in answers given to questions. Wonderful! Just wonderful! The images used to describe aspects of centering prayer were very helpful. The presentation was very easy to follow and understand. Thank you. Everything was very helpful and clear. Thanks for the understanding and guidance. I have been hungry for a deeper prayer life. I have been helped along that journey. Found this to be very helpful, even though I had attended before. It helped to hear it again. One of the best presentations of centering prayer I have heard, very encouraging. Much more than I expected. You explained the method very well and brought me to a clearer understanding of centering prayer. Concrete, specific, easy to understand. This was the BEST explanation of centering prayer and contemplation that I have EVER heard. Thanks. I definitely enjoyed the whole workshop. The presentation was excellent, clear, warmly personal, it definitely stirred the deep desire for prayer. (remarks taken from participant evaluations of The Introductory Workshop)
